About the company
The AA started as a humble group of motor enthusiasts in
1905 (The Automobile Association) designed to help
motorists avoid receiving license endorsements as a
result of the Motor Car Act 1903. The group would set
out on bicycles to warn motorists of any police speed
traps.
Today the AA is valued
at over £3 billion, and has in excess of 15 million
members, making it by far the biggest breakdown
assistance provider in the United Kingdom. They handle
5.6 million calls and attend 3.6 million breakdowns per
year, that's one breakdown every 9 seconds (figures from
2008).
What
we think
We highly recommend the AA. They are not the cheapest
provider out there, but they are good at what they do,
and they do it more often than any other provider. They
have the the biggest fleet of dedicated patrols in the
UK so you can expect their level of training to be of
the highest standard.
